We have just been sent a very interesting and historic video given by Howard Steele, then Director of Engineering ITV in November 1969. This was a video shown privately to thank all staff in ITA, the programme companies, and the Post Office on the successful launch of ITV in colour in 1969. It also gives insights into the “politics” leading up to this which show that the system introduced, in the days when most tv was in black and white, and which endured up to the current age of digital television, was by no means a given.
